SUPPORTING SURVIVORS OF HAMAS ATROCITIES IN THE NEGEV REGION

As harrowing images and heart-wrenching stories continue to emerge in the aftermath of the October 7th terror attack and ensuing war, the level of trauma looms large for the survivors, especially in Israel’s southern Negev region. The impact of war on both individuals and families experiencing sexual trauma and assault is profound. Psychological scars, compounded by the traumas of conflict, demand urgent and comprehensive intervention in order to prevent prolonged phases of post-traumatic responses.

Keren Hayesod is committed to rebuilding the emotional resilience of survivors, their families, and their communities.

One organisation that is partnering with us to achieve this goal is Maslan, the Negev’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Centre, which has been offering routine and emergency assistance to victims of sexual assault and violence and their families in the south of Israel for over 30 years. Since the brutal Hamas attack, Maslan has been treating survivors from Kiryat Gat to Eilat. Unfortunately, 30% of their budget was cut, putting a severe strain on its ability to provide this urgent support.
