What is Bartali?

Bartali – Youth in Movement is an Israeli socio-educational organization dedicated to the memory of the Righteous Among the Nations Gino Bartali, the Italian cycling legend who courageously risked his life to save hundreds of Jews during the Shoah and never spoke about it. His famous quote, “Good is something you do, not something you talk about,” is embossed on the organization’s flag.

Bartali – Youth in Movement operates a network of cycling centers for youth ages 13 to 18, mainly living in youth villages and social welfare institutions throughout Israel.
The program uses the tremendous strength that long bike rides require to build the resilience of the young people, develop a sense of belonging, and foster their ambition and growth mindset.

Currently, Bartali operates 11 bike centers for about 350 students nationwide.

Why support Bartali?

Bartali – Youth in Movement programs teach cycling skills, promote motivation and self-discipline, and create a strong sense of teamwork and social cohesion. As part of the program, youth train to participate in multi-day cycling activities and take part in challenging events that require a long-term commitment. Program participants are encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle and build a positive body image.

By modeling excellence and instilling a passion for cycling, the organization hopes to lay the foundation for youth to develop a personal vision for themselves, expand their sense of responsibility and skills, and be supported in developing their resilience, perseverance, and determination.

Bartali – Youth in Movement works with youth from across Israeli society, celebrating their diversity, promoting acceptance and cooperation.
