KEDMA needs support

Project Update, March 2022

KH Switzerland is supporting the renovation of the school at Kedma Youth Village.

Kedma Youth Village is a therapeutic educational youth village that accepts at-risk boys and girls from all over the country. Many of the 14 to 18-year-old children have already changed schools several times. For them, Kedma is their last chance to successfully graduate from school. Unlike other youth villages, Kedma is the only home these children have.

The Village provides its youngsters with comprehensive support for their physical, emotional, social, and educational needs as they go through a process of change and growth and experience significant and positive successes. This will allow them to lead a normative civic life, with physical, emotional and social independence.

The continuing care at Kedma is unique among the youth villages. Thanks to a cooperation with the Israeli Air Force and Intel, the teenagers have the opportunity to complete a technical training both at school and later during their military service. And a guaranteed job at Intel helps them make the successful step into professional life.

Key Figures for 2021/2022 Academic Year:

  • Of Kedma’s 95 students, 42 are girls and 53 are boys
  • Kedma’s professional staff of 85 consists of 57 women and 28 men
  • Six staff members are graduates of Kedma
  • Full matriculation eligibility: 62%
  • IDF recruitment percentage: 93% (of which 36% join the Air Force)
  • For the second consecutive year, Intel has opened its doors to Kedma graduates (three of whom are Intel employees).
