Starting in 2000, Keren Hajessod Switzerland has been involved in the social and cultural development of the city of Rechovot. The new community center, which is funded from Switzerland, is located in the south of Rechovot. This area has seen rapid development with hi-rise residential buildings shooting up everywhere. As quickly as residential space has developed, the city itself wasn’t able to keep pace with its offer of social and cultural institutions for its residents.

The community center Rechovot Hachadascha is made up of two buildings. The main building has various spaces and offers a wide array of leisure activities for young and old. A green atrium connects the main building with the generous library complex. The center measures 1690 square meters, and the individual entrances allow for independent use. The exhibition in the “Swiss Heritage Room», located in the main building, allows a glimpse into Jewish life in Switzerland.

Once again, thanks to the donors of Keren Hajessod Switzerland, a Swiss project was able to be realized in in Rechovot. A project that supports equal opportunity in the area and allows the city to reduce the social gap. This is essential for Rechovot, as the city continues to grow at a rapid pace, and is simultaneously being challenged with the integration of new immigrants.

The project was inaugurated on April 3rd, 2016.
