The region of Yokneam-Megido lies 25 kilometers to the southeast of Haifa. Despite the economic growth since the late Eighties, there is a high number of children in this region with its population of 24’000 that are considered «children-at-risk». The social gap continues to widen. Unlike in many other locations, Youth Futures in Yokneam doesn’t have its own site, where the children could find a warm and safe haven. Yet experience shows that many affected children need exactly this after school, because they feel more at ease in Youth Futures centers than they do at home. 

With the help of its donors, and in cooperation with the city council, KH Switzerland backed the renovation of the old community center. The basement floor was being refurbished for Youth Futures, the upper floor is at the community’s and neighborhood’s disposal.
