What is Aliyah?
Keren Hajessod’s time-honored commitment to aliyah begins before the immigration itself – with counseling and preparation in the country of origin. Once in Israel, immigrants find their first home in the absorption centers, where they are prepared for their new lives as important members of the Israeli population with the help of Ulpanim (Hebrew lessons), workshops and various other forms of social support.
Keren Hajessod has been supporting and aiding immigrants during their aliyah and integration for decades. By now, Keren Hajessod in involved with the third aliyah generation, starting with the first European pogroms and WWII, followed by rescue missions and aliyah efforts in Iraq, the former USSR, Ethiopia, Yemen, Ukraine and Europe. The main focus is always helping endangered Jewish communities.
Why support Aliyah?
Aliyah is not just the immigration itself, but the equally important smooth integration into the Israeli community.
Since its creation, the State of Israel has absorbed three million immigrants. Immigrants, irrespective of their social or ethnic origin, have one thing in common: They all need a new home.
