Amigour

Independent, yet supervised living for the older generation

What is Amigour?

Amigour makes housing available to the elderly; particularly to Holocaust survivors, to save them from poverty and homelessness. With over 8000 dwellings in 57 homes, Amigour helps make independent living possible for these people. Furthermore, activies and excursions are arranged.

Why support Amigour?

Today, approximately 250’000 Holocaust survivors live in Israel, 80’000 of which are living under the poverty line. As many of the elderly in Israel live in wretched conditions, there are long waiting lists for Amigour housing. In order to be placed in one of the apartment complexes, the waiting period is taken into account, as well as urgent critical circumstances. Amigour is expanding and is planning new projects throughout Israel, in order to give these people a worthy existence.

Results of this project

Registered individuals move into a studio with its own bathroom and kitchenette. With common activities like going for walks, playing cards, singing or excursions, the daily routine is disrupted in an agreeable way. New friendships are formed, and the twilight years gain meaning and dignity.
