Built in 2001 by the city of Beer Sheva, with the aid of Swiss donations, the Youth and Culture Centre provides space and infrastructure for a number of cultural activities for 13 to 35-year-olds from the entire region. Practice rooms and recording and television studios are available for workshops, productions and rehearsals. Performances take place in the Swiss Auditorium, which offers 395 seats and is outfitted with the most modern stage technology available. The main goal of the institution is not only to patronize local youth, but also to tie them to Beer Sheva, so they will get involved with their city, thus ensuring that the cultural life there has a future. Every year, the center awards scholarships for outstanding talents, in the name of KH Switzerland. In addition, several festivals and open days are held every year.
The project was inaugurated in 2004.
