BERN OPENING 2022

report

How does a boy from a small Arab village near Kfar Saba end up as a guest speaker at a Keren Hajessod Magbit event in Bern years later?
Ahmad Mansour, now a German-Israeli psychologist and author in Berlin, described his career from a childhood shaped by Palestinian ideas to a critical analyst of the Middle East problem and advocate of Israel’s democracy last Monday evening in the well-attended Bellevue Palace in Bern. As a clear supporter of a two-state solution, he provided very concrete solutions in his very understandable considerations. Above all, he emphasized the advantages that the residents of Israel – of any religious group – have compared to the surrounding Arab states. In no other country in the region would Arab children have the opportunities they have in Israel.

Emanuel Zloczower, President of KH Bern, hosted the evening and thanked the guests for their long-term loyalty and support. The Swiss project 2022, the renovation of a school in the Kedma Youth Village, was presented by Claudia Scheiner, KH President. She shared personal impressions she got of the children in Kedma during a visit. Ifat Reshef, Israeli Ambassador to Switzerland, also thanked the guests for their solidarity with the people of Israel. The evening was closed by Dr. Alex Kerner, KH delegate and a film about the KH projects. The film showed how children from all walks of life are supported, bringing Ahmad Mansour’s vision full circle again.
