The notion of a community center in the northeast of Rechovot was simple, yet ambitious: Immigrants and locals of all ages should come together here, be supported socially and have the possibility for intercommunication. The center is made up of the four buildings «Zurich», «Basel», «Bern» and «Lugano». «Basel» is a two-story structure for young children. It contains common rooms with toys and educational material, as well as lodging, cooking facilities, multiple rooms and facilities for speech therapy, physical and occupational therapy. Rechovot Chavajot possesses one of only four therapeutic swimming facilities in the entire country.

The community center offers various activities, from ceramics and art workshops to ballet and computer classes as well as exhibitions and shows. It also houses a music conservatory,  several training rooms and a library. From youngsters to senior citizens, an average 11’000 visitors a week benefit from numerous social, cultural and therapeutic activities and consultations.

The project was inaugurated on October 5th, 2010.
